The course required for the use of the Defibrillator
COURSE FOR THE USE OF DAE DEFIBRILLATOR – BLSD
In Italy, cardiovascular disease is the cause of more than 41 percent of deaths, while sudden cardiac deaths, in which death occurs within an hour of the onset of symptoms, affect between 45,000 and 60,000 Italians each year.
The factors that positively affect victims’ chances of survival are closely dependent on the earliness of intervention, the underlying rhythm, and subsequent treatment. Early initiation of resuscitation maneuvers is a necessary condition for saving a person’s life.
A specific course must be taken to use the AED.
A short course is provided for use, at the end of which, after passing a test, a certificate is issued. An AED (automatic external defibrillator) is a small machine that contains inside it two adhesive plates that can detect alterations in the heart’s electrical activity and deliver an electric shock when needed.
It is composed of a central body, the brain of the apparatus, which can analyze the data transmitted through the plates and provide vocal directions to the user who is using it regarding the procedures to be put in place.
